Death to Paper!
The Boston Globe has officially killed its Health/Science section, signifying another battle lost against the impending doom that is the Internet’s domination of news publication. First the Christian Science Monitor dies, then cuts / “reformatting” at the Dig, a lacking Phoenix, the Herald… well the Herald has always kinda sucked.Festivals

Christian Science Monitor
One of the most respected national publications, the Christian Science Monitor, has recently announced that in 2009 they are going to be transitioning to a online-only format (with an optional weekly print edition for loyal subscribers.)
For fans of printed publications this may be disheartening, for Underground fans it’s nothing new.
The changes at csmonitor.com are expected to take place in April of 2009 and are meant to “secure and enlarge the Monitor’s role in its second century,” said Mary Trammell, editor in chief of The Christian Science Publishing Society and a member of the Christian Science Board of Directors.
2008-2012
Underground is very proud to congratulate Barack Obama on his election as our next President.Banksy gets painted over
International artist of our time, Banksy, was dealt a blow recently when a London council deemed his work “common graffiti” and initiated plans to paint over his famous “One Nation Under CCTV” work. The image depicts enormous large white letters and a child observing, while a CCTV (a real one) watches the scene.
It is understandable that the officials in London feel obligated to treat all citizens equally and to do their job according to the book, but history will surely look upon their actions as destruction, and not restoration.
Diggin Underground
We’ve just finished putting together both the Halloween Drink Guide and Record Care Basics, and I’m very happy to say that the new direction in content is being received very well.
Our transition from a humor based website to an arts/lifestyle/community hub has involved a LOT of work, but it is finally materializing. We’re interviewing more local artists and looking for the latest trends for threadbare, and finally have a solid direction and goals.
If you have any suggestions about how we can better adapt to our new persona, drop a line to me personally at al@undergroundboston.net. We’re also looking for more writers, so if you’re interested let me know.
See you all around the interweb,
Al
